Home Based Services

Hancock County Senior Services provides personal care, respite, and housekeeping services to qualifying clients via four programs.  Those services are provided to you by compassionate, caring, well-trained Direct Care Workers. Many of our services are provided at little or no cost.

The Four Programs are:

LIGHTHOUSE PROGRAM

Participants in the WV Bureau of Senior Services’ Lighthouse Program receive up to sixty hours of assistance per month with personal care, mobility, nutrition, and light housekeeping.
You must meet the following criteria

  • Hancock County resident at least 60 years of age.
  • Medically eligible based on an evaluation by our R.N.
  • Financially eligible as determined by a sliding fee schedule

FAIR PROGRAM

WV Bureau of Senior Services’ Family Alzheimer In-home Respite (F.A.I.R.) Program is designed for family or primary caregivers of individuals dealing with various forms of dementia including Alzheimer’s Disease.  FAIR provides up to 16 hours per week of respite care thereby giving family members time to grocery shop, get a hair cut, run errands, visit friends, or just take a nap.  Qualifying clients must have a physician’s diagnosis of dementia.  In addition, an evaluation must be conducted by our FAIR Coordinator prior to beginning services.

VA PROGRAM

Hancock County Senior Services is approved to provide the United States Veterans Affairs office to provide Homemaker/Chores/Respite Services.  Hancock County veterans who receive their veterans’ health benefits through either the Pittsburgh or Cleveland V.A. Healthcare Systems are eligible.  Your VA physician orders your services based on your current needs.  Then, simply request our agency to provide your services.

PRIVATE PAY

Private Pay Services are provided to individuals who may not meet the medical or financial eligibility requirements for other services. Those who have long-term care insurance policies covering personal care and/or chores services are also eligible.  Personal Care Services are provided at an affordable $20.00 per hour.
